Tarkine Consulting is supporting a major retail energy platform transformation and is looking for an experienced Test Environment Manager to support the delivery of a large-scale core platform implementation.

This role is not a hands-on testing position. It is focused on managing the non-production environment landscape across a complex transformation program, making sure test environments are planned, governed, available and properly coordinated across multiple delivery and testing streams.

A key challenge in the environment is the limited pre-production setup, with multiple project streams needing to coordinate around shared test and development environments. This means environment access, bookings, contentions, data setup, feature flagging, outage management and vendor coordination all need to be tightly managed.

You will work closely with the test manager, project teams, delivery streams, vendors and technical stakeholders to establish and manage the framework for non-production environment usage.

The role will involve setting up clear processes for environment access, bookings and conflict resolution, particularly where multiple streams are relying on the same environment at the same time.

You will also help define how test data, configuration, feature flags, integrations, APIs and environment issues are managed across the program.

Responsibilities

• Establish and manage the coordination framework for non-production test environments
• Manage environment access, bookings, usage conflicts and scheduling contentions
• Set up clear processes for environment setup, readiness and stakeholder usage
• Coordinate with testing, delivery, vendor and platform teams around environment impacts
• Support governance around test data, configuration, feature flags, security and masking
• Ensure environment connectivity, integrations, APIs and endpoints are clearly understood
• Track and escalate environment-related risks, assumptions, issues and outages
• Document environment requirements, processes and usage expectations
• Support multiple testing streams across a broader transformation program

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who has managed test environments, release environments, non-production environments or similar across a complex technology delivery program.

You do not need to be the deepest engineer in the room, but you do need to understand how environments behave across testing, integration, vendor platforms and project delivery.

Experience in SaaS implementation, retail energy, utilities, billing platforms, CRM transformation, customer platform programs or large-scale digital transformation would be highly relevant.
