Tarkine Consulting is supporting an Australian AI-first automation consultancy that is continuing to scale its Manila engineering team.

The company works with major Australian enterprise clients across banking, insurance and government, building production-grade intelligent workflows, automation platforms and orchestration capability.

We are looking for experienced Automation Developers to join the Manila team. This is a hands-on development role working across BPMN-based workflow automation, backend integration and enterprise-scale orchestration.

Camunda is a key part of the orchestration stack, alongside modern AI, automation and cloud platforms. You will help design, build and run workflows that connect real business processes, APIs, systems and data across complex client environments.

This role suits a backend developer, automation engineer or workflow developer who enjoys solving practical business problems with clean, reliable software.

What you will be doing

• You will design, develop and operate BPMN-based workflows using Camunda and related workflow technologies.
• You will integrate workflows with client and internal systems using REST APIs, event streams and messaging platforms.
• You will work across API security, observability, structured logging, metrics and tracing from the design stage.
• You will contribute to reusable workflow and orchestration patterns used across enterprise client engagements.
• You will work closely with Australian delivery leadership, Manila engineering colleagues and, where needed, client stakeholders.
• You will also support junior engineers through code review, pairing and practical mentoring.

What we are looking for

• We are looking for someone with three or more years' experience as a backend developer, automation engineer or similar.
• You should have strong coding skills in at least one modern language such as C# / .NET, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript or similar.
• You will need a solid understanding of REST APIs, JSON, OpenAPI / Swagger and common API security patterns such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC and JWT.
• Hands-on experience with BPMN 2.0, Camunda Platform 8, Zeebe or a comparable workflow engine is important.
• You should also bring experience across microservices, event-driven design, messaging, SQL, Git, CI/CD and modern testing practices.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP will be highly regarded.

Useful experience

• Experience with Camunda Operate, Tasklist, Optimize, job workers or external task patterns would be valuable.
• Exposure to OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Datadog, Application Insights, Terraform or similar tooling would also be useful.
• Prior experience in financial services, insurance, asset finance or other regulated enterprise environments would be well aligned.

Hiring process

The process is straightforward.

First, a conversation with the hiring manager.

Second, a technical interview with a senior engineer or engineering lead, including a practical exercise or system design discussion.

The aim is to provide a clear decision within one week of final interview.

You must have the legal right to work in the Philippines. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
